New project with a new look for my glass.

                          NEW PROJECT!!

Whilst totally inspired by Rene Lalique I've started to have a go at cire perdue, or lost wax casting. 

So far I've only made a couple of wax items; the hard part is yet to come. I have made two wave sculptures in modelling wax, each about 10cm high. The wax was part of a kit I bought froma company called Warm Glass.

The wax gets dipped in plaster which then dries, the wax is melted out with a common or garden wallpaper stripper (steamer), the hollow shape filled with crushed glass which is fired. After a slow cool the plaster is removed and the item cleaned up. Sounds easy but probably won't be!

If it works the new items will be announced and released onto the website.

Still working on the knitted ferret mascot. Too many distractions! Besides, it's more of a winter thing. Can't waste this good weather sitting indoors.                          XXXX artferret  12.9.14.
